Flex-Agility

A 4-week confidence-building course and introduction to Agility. Build your dog's confidence skills by navigating obstacles, walking on different surfaces, going through tunnels, with an introduction to basic agility equipment. This class is taught with a clicker. Class limited to 12 friendly dogs.

Requirements: Participants must have taken at least one basic obedience or companionship class, no choke, prong collars or retractable leashes.

Agility

6-week class. Increase your dog’s confidence through the fun sport of agility. As a team, you and your dog will learn to understand a wide variety of skills, whether it is weaving through poles, running through tunnels, or jumping on cue. The sport of agility is a fun way to enrich your relationship and discover new ways to bond and play with your best friend. Introductory and intermediate classes available.

Agility II

6-week class. For those who have completed the introductory class and want to move on to more advanced work, this class works on clearer communication with the dog, distance, speed and working off-leash.

Basic Companionship

6-weeks
First class: a 1½ hour classroom session without your dog, focusing on how dogs learn, communicate, “understanding the canine mind,” and important information about training. Please bring proof of all dog vaccinations to this class. This includes a Bordetella vaccine within the last 6 months.

CLASS CONTENT: All classes have an educational component, as well as hands-on work with your dog including:

1. Overview of: How Dogs Learn, Communicate, and Understanding the Canine Mind.
2. Shaping behaviors through positive markers, food lures, positive reinforcement and timing.
3. Basic skills:
   • Name recognition
   • Sit
   • Watch me
   • Down
   • Stay
   • Release
   • Drop it
   • Controlled walking
   • Come
   • No
   • Off
   • Leave it
4. Solving behavior problems:
   • Barking
   • Biting
   • Jumping
5. Listening around distractions.

Intermediate Companionship

6-weeks
First class: a 1 hour classroom session without your dog. Please bring proof of all dog vaccinations to this class. This includes a Bordetella vaccine within the last 6 months.

CLASS CONTENT: Intermediate Companionship works with building and refining basic skills with increased distance, distractions and duration, working off-leash (if ready) and focusing on your specific goals. Dog must have a good sit, down, stay & come, on leash.

1. An overview of how dogs learn in an environment with increased distractions.
2. Down and Sit, from a distance.
3. Stay, Spot, and Come with distractions and distance.
4. Front, Over and Back

Intermediate II Companionship

6-weeks
First class with dog. Must have taken Intermediate Companionship.

CLASS CONTENT: Intermediate II continues to work with impulse control with higher levels of distractions, working off-leash if ready. Dogs will work at coming while playing and greeting other dogs.

Advanced Companionship

Outdoor Intermediate

First class with dog. Must have taken Intermediate Companionship. CLASS CONTENT: Outdoor Intermediate continues to work with impulse control with higher levels of distractions in an outdoor environment and working off-leash if ready. Dogs will work with recalling while playing and greeting other dogs in a large, outdoor grassy area with increased distance.

Puppy 101

4-week Puppy 101 classes
Puppies 8-13 weeks may join the class any week with our innovative new ongoing format! Sign up for 4 sessions and start this week!

PLEASE READ!
Puppies must have one set of shots from a veterinarian and be on a worming program. Records of shots must be brought to first class.

Start off right with a greater understanding of your pup through fun & gentle handling skills. Each week will include:

• Attention & name-recognition exercises
• Socialization & confidence-building skills
• Play time
• Handling exercises.

Within every 4-week continuous session, we will talk about:

Tricks & Clicks

A 4-week class learning clicker techniques to expand your dog's understanding of simple tricks and shape new behaviors. Skills include:

• Opening & closing doors
• Roll over

• Spins
• Figure-8’s
• Bowing
• other fun skills!

Clicker Training with your Dog

A 4-week beginners class in learning how to effectively use clicker techniques to expand your dog's understanding of simple tricks and shape new behaviors, target-training and work on attention exercises.

Fee: $85

2- Hour Training Workshops:

Building a Reliable Recall
A 2-hour, hands-on workshop for understanding the deeper levels of a dependable, consistent, and trustworthy recall in distractive environments. We’ll discuss how to motivate your dog and create a desire for an immediate come when called, as well as focus on why they choose to ignore you or blow you off. Several kinds of recall games will be played that you can use while hiking or walking, games that will motivate your dog to immediately stop and run to you. Class size is limited to 12 friendly dogs. No choke chains or prong collars will be used. Equipment needed: long leash and lots of really yummy treats.

Fee: $45

Walking on a Loose Leash
A 2-hour hands-on workshop for understanding and trying several different techniques and equipment options to teach your dog to walk politely without pulling, lunging, or dragging behind you. We will also work on heeling right next to you and incorporating an automatic sit when you stop walking. No choke or prong collars will be used but bring them if you are already using them. Class is limited to 12 friendly dogs.
